• List of administrative communities and areas in Abu Dhabi city and emirate - zones, suburbs, areas, districts, regions, sectors. Al Mushrif, Al Rowdah, Khalifa City A and B, Mussafah, Mohammed Bin Zayed City, MBZ City, Al Bateen, Al Muroor, Khalidiyah, etc.

• Sectors have main roads as boundaries. Roads running parallel to Airport Road (2nd Street) have even numbers. Roads running perpendicular to or across Airport Rd have odd numbers.
• Internal roads in each sector also have even and odd numbers, starting at 1 and 2 for each sector. So don't get the Airport Road 2nd Street mixed up with a sector's internal 2nd street when following directions or route maps.

Sectors in Abu Dhabi City (ADM97)

Zone number-Sector number - district name. For example "1-15 - Al Dhafrah" is Zone 1, Sector 15, Al Dhafrah district. One sector has only one district name (at least no exceptions found ... yet), but each district (or community) can be one or more sectors. The same sector might have different district names depending on the map you look at. Following list is Abu Dhabi Municipality district (or community) names but might not be up to date if there have been changes.

Lower sector numbers for zones 1 and 2 (Abu Dhabi island) are closer to Airport Road (2nd Street). Higher numbers are closer to the coast on either side. The sector number doesn't mean much on its own unless you know which zone it's in. For example Sector 15 in Zone 1 is part of Al Dhafrah district, and Sector 15 in Zone 2 is SKMC (Sheikh Khalifah Medical City).

Capital District, Abu Dhabi (Plan 2030) - renamed Nov 2013 as New Khalifa City?

New development planned, triangular area surrounded by Khalifa City A and Masdar City, Khalifa City B, and MBZ City on each side. Correct name is Capital District, not Abu Dhabi Capital District or Capital District Abu Dhabi?

Major precincts, conceptual, subject to change, and different from "precincts" category as areas of Abu Dhabi Metropolitan area, which include the Capital District as one or three precincts (Core, North, South). Precincts then divided into districts, neighbourhoods, communities, etc. Plan 2030 information says "The Masterplan has identified six major precincts, each of which are distinguished by unique characteristics such as land use distribution, density, built form, location to transit infrastructure, and open space. Within each of these precincts are several smaller districts, or neighbourhoods, formed around retail and transit streets, community facilities, schools and local parks."

1. City Centre Precinct - 4 districts:
   • Central Business District (CBD), not the same as CBD downtown Abu Dhabi on Abu Dhabi Island. Unless it's planning to move.
   • Federal Mosque District
   • North Spine District
   • Souk District
2. Emirati Neighbourhood (or Precinct?)
3. Federal Precinct
4. Palace Precinct
5. Sports Hub Precinct
6. South Spine Precinct
