- Al Sahaba Private School reopened after a brief closure in early May 2010 when the principal disappeared, after the Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) ordered the school to be closed due to substandard facilities. An approximate timeline of events is as follows:
- 09 May 2010 - ASPS reopens after closure / suspension with ADEC assisting with school operations. An ADEZ advisor has taken up the position of Acting Principal in the interim. Information from press release 12 May 2010.
- 07-08 May 2010 - ADEC
Engineering Department arranges people to carry out urgently needed maintenance on the school property "These works included conducting air conditioning repairs, repainting the school building, fixing windows, renovating classroom tiles and replacing hazardous electrical generators," according to comments from
H.E. Dr. Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili, Director General of ADEC.
- 07 May 2010 - Gulf News reports that the Al Sahabah School Principal left suddenly resulting in ADEC ordering the school to close on Wednesday 05 May 2010, but that it would reopen on 09 May 2010.
- 05 May 2010 - press release from ADEC said the school was closed as a result of the chaos due to the absence of the school administration, but would reopen on 09 May 2010 after the ADEC Engineering Department carried out urgent maintenance work. ADEC said they would form a committee to run the school temporarily.
- 05 May 2010 - the Gulf News newspaper reports that ADEC was allowing Al Sahabah School to continue operations after some issues prompting the closure notification had been resolved.
- 19 April 2010 - Khaleej Times reports that AlSahaba School is one of six in Abu Dhabi ordered to close by the Municipality by 30 June 2010.
- Al Sahaba Private School and Kindergarten is boys only? Or boys and girls are segregated after kindergarten?
- Al Sahaba Private School is one of the six villa schools to be closed by the end of the 2009-2010 academic year (30 June 2010) due to serious health and safety violations according to a decision issued by the Municipality of Abu Dhabi City.
