  • Pioneer Private School (PIPS) closed, and students can enrol at the new Abu Dhabi Philippine School establised by ADEC and Universal Future Education (UFE).
  • PIPS principal, Dr Daniel Sistona, is moving to the new school as Deputy Principal according to a Khaleej Times report 12 August 2010.
  • PIPS contact details were telephone +971-2-6424622, fax +971-2-6426233, email pips@emirates.net.ae (or pips@eim.ae). Presumably no longer valid.
09 May 2010
  • Pioneers International Private School students might receive instruction in the Filipino language and other Filipino subjects at the new school from September 2011 according to an announcement from ADEC (although the press release on 06 May 2010 wasn't entirely clear about it).
  • Previously, parents were concerned that the new schools being established to take students from the villa schools ordered to close down, would not cater to Filipino students.
  • The National reported on 02 May 2010 that Grace Reucio Princesa, the Philippines ambassador, met with ADEC officials on 02 May 2010 to discuss the issue, and afterwards said "We have come to a very beautiful solution, ... We are assured of a Filipino site for a school for the Filipino kids come September. We have the full support of the Adec officials; they don't want the kids and the parents separated."
  • The new site being reported would be good for 3 years, after which another solution would have to be found. Land might be granted to the Philippines embassy in Abu Dhabi to build a new school on according to the same report.
  • The Khaleej Times reported on 08 May 2010 that some parents were still concerned about the solution, partly due to the location of the new school premises which appears to be either in Muroor or Baniyas.
21 April 2010
  • Pioneers School in Abu Dhabi is one of 6 villa schools in Abu Dhabi that have been ordered to shut down by the end of the academic year (30 June 2010?) due to poor safety and building, on instructions from the Abu Dhabi Municipality.
  • According to a Khaleej Times report 20 April 2010, the school has applied to ADEC to bid on land or an already existing facility where they could relocate. Dr Daniel Sistona, the Pioneers School Principal said "We will take what's available, the main thing is to have a new school the next school year otherwise, the students will have to go home due to lack of placements for the Philippine curriculum here,"

  • Pioneer International Private School (PIPS?) in Abu Dhabi telephone number is +971-2-6434633 according to the Ministry of Education, who were threatening to shut down PIPS in 2005 for mismanagement, among other things.
  • School is also referred to as Pioneers International Private School, Pioneer International Pvt School, Philippine International Private School, maybe Pioneer Private School.
  • Is not related to the Pioneer Modern School in Sharjah (Filipino curriculum), or the Pioneer English Private School Sharjah (Arabic/UAE curriculum).
  • Not much information available. Is it still open?
  • DECS permit issued 24 February 1999.
  • Email pips@eim.ae should also work.
  • Location is near near HCT Abu Dhabi Men's College?
  • Pioneers School is K-10 or secondary only?
