Dubai Metro Blue Line
The Dubai Metro Blue Line is the third Dubai Metro light rail line to be announced. The Blue Line would run from the Rashidiya end of the Red Line, out to Emirates Road (311 Rd) and follow it to the Green Community and Dubai Investment Park, then to Al Maktoum Airport (JXB) and possibly continue to the Abu Dhabi border and on to the Dubai Waterfront (or that's where the Purple Line will go, and the Blue Line will run on to the Jebel Ali Palm instead).

Dubai Metro Blue Line construction schedule and timeline
- Tuesday 21 March 2006 - groundbreaking for the Dubai Metro Blue Line. According to
Abdul Majeed Khawja, the Director of the Dubai Metro Department,
"The Blue Line will be operational in 2011" (Gulf News 22 March 2006).
- 2012 - initial expected commencement date of operations (revised, probably not before 2014, if project goes ahead).
