• 19 July 2011 - The National reported that a UAE Consulate was planned for Kerala, India - The UAE has officially proposed to open a diplomatic mission in Kerala within the next year. The report quoted PT Chacko, press secretary to chief minister of Kerala, Oommen Chandy, as saying "The objective will materialise in a year, ... The UAE will be the first Gulf diplomatic mission in the state. We have not discussed the exact location yet."

• 03 May 2011 - several news sources reported that during a visit to Baku by the UAE Minister for the Economy, Sultan Saeed Al Mansoori, he announced plans to open a UAE embassy in Baku by the end of 2011.
• 18 March 2008 - several news sources reported that during a visit to the UAE by the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister, Elmar Mammadyarov, the UAE President, Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahayan, said that the UAE would open an embassy in Baku, Azerbaijan.
• 31 December 2001 - Gulf News reported that the Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan, Khalaf Khalafov said "The Republic of Azerbaijan attaches great importance to its relations with the UAE, which is set to open its embassy soon in Azerbaijan," during a visit to the UAE.

• 07 February 2012 - Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries are withdrawing their ambassadors from Damascus in Syria (and maybe Consuls-General also) in response to the growing violence from the Syrian ruling regime towards its citizens. A statement from the GCC said "The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, current head of the council, announces that the GCC states have decided to withdraw all their ambassadors from Syria and also demand that all ambassadors of the Syrian regime in its lands leave immediately"
