Online shopping Abu Dhabi Dubai UAE

Note that a listing here is no guarantee of authenticity or reliability. Check before you enter credit card details that there is at least https at the start of the URL (not http without an 's'), and a padlock icon displayed somewhere as part of your browser (not the website itself). That in itself is not sufficient to guarantee security but if you don't see that, then any information you supply is almost certain to be stolen somewhere between your computer and their server.

There are many specialist online shopping websites, and many "bricks and mortar" UAE companies have websites with online ordering facilities such as UAE based airlines for example. The list of online shopping websites is restricted (mostly) to companies that are dedicated ecommerce companies. If you have a good one to suggest that is not listed here, please add it to the www.dubailicious.com [error not available] UAE web directory. Thank you.

Many online ordering websites have their own credit card processing systems but some use third party providers such as Paypal and 2Checkout / 2CO (note that 2CO is not actually a payment processor but a reseller, however the result appears to be the same for shoppers), or ePay (a UAE based processor). Don't panic if a third party processing system is used but do try and confirm if it is a reputable service. Often it can be to your benefit anyway as they may have more robust and helpful procedures for dealing with problems if orders are not delivered for example.

Online shopping websites Abu Dhabi, Dubai and UAE

  • www.bonkers.ae (not available when checked in May 2011) - a Bonkers website with all sorts of silly stuff you never knew you could buy. Look for Arse Face Soap to solve that perennial problem of which side of the soap to use (especially when someone else has been in the shower before you). Or if you've ever wondered where you can buy a Newton's Cradle, bonkers.ae have them. Party items, silly costumes, wigs, magic stuff, games, and more. Good place to find a last minute birthday present that's a bit wacky. Next day courier delivery in Dubai, 2 day delivery in rest of UAE. Delivery charges minimum 25 dhs for less than 5kg, 50 dhs for 5kg-10kg. Payment by credit card through 2checkout (a well-enough known reseller that most will think of as a payment processor), or Cash on Delivery (COD). Email queries@bonkers.ae for international orders. Return defective goods to Bonkers!ae, Office 513, Building 8, Dubai Media City, UAE. Tel +971-4-3903659.
  • www.brownbag.ae - Brown Bag is an online supermarket of sorts, with lots more including electronic goodies, DVD rentals (for 15 dhs), and a 1 hour delivery time in Dubai (website says delivery only in Dubai when checked January 2009). Delivery charge is 10 dhs. Operates 24/7 and payment can be made by credit card on delivery. Not www.brownbag.com.
  • www.citrusstv.com - Citruss TV online eshop launched October 2006, household goods and beauty products, based in Dubai but delivers throughout the Middle East, tel +971-6-5034534 (Sharjah?). Online version of a TV shopping channel. No information obvious about shipping costs, or payment methods (November 2009).
  • www.cobone.com - bargains and discounts of 50% to 90% for group shopping according to a press release 12 August 2010, in which the CEO and founder, Paul Kenny, said "The deals you will see on Cobone.com will offers discounts like you have never seen before." He's right. When we checked website on 12 August 2010, we didn't see any deals at all. There was a sign up request though (we didn't). Good luck. Owned by Jabbar Internet Group (previous owners of Maktoob before selling to Yahoo!, so you'd expect they have some idea of what they're doing). Looks like the same principle as gonabit.com.
  • www.ellamart.com - online shopping site based in Dubai. Product categories include books, clothing and fashion for women, computers and IT, gifts, home spa electronics, magazines, mobile phones, newspapers, office supplies, perfumes, video games, etc. Most categories had no listings when checked, or returned an error, and when we tried to place an order, some sort of page error was returned (checked August 2010).
  • www.emart.ae (forum topic) - online grocery shopping. Not www.emart.com.
  • www.giftbag.ae - operated by Al Wakil Trading LLC, Dubai, UAE. Mobile phones, computers, perfumes, chocolates, flowers, and other gifts. Email info@giftbag.ae, tel +971-4-2260127 (0900-1900). Payment by credit card or cash on delivery (COD) (in UAE). Electronics items COD only? Delivery charge AED 25 per order?
  • www.gonabit.com - get discounts of 50% to 90% by shopping as a group (or what is known as Social Shopping?). They find the deal, you sign up, and if enough people sign up then everyone gets a bargain. Or something like that. Offers available in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. And maybe eventually in Amman, Beirut, Cairo, Doha, Jeddah, Kuwait City, Riyadh. Founder and CEO is Dan Stuart. Sounds like the same principle as cobone.com.
  • www.grocery.ae - online grocery shop in Dubai, started 2007? Forwards to www.arabbusinessclub.org when checked August 2010. Previously (or still) related to www.ellamart.com, another online shopping website in Dubai?

  • www.lowcostdubai.com - Low Cost Dubai - started April 2010, bargain deals in Dubai for hotels, car rentals, holidays, bars and nightclubs, restaurants, shopping, desert safaris, tourist attractions, and more. Also cheap deals for other emirates.
  • www.misar.ae - Misr Trading Co. Online shop for hardware, building equipment and tools, automotive tools, etc. Is simply an online portal for an established bricks and mortar company in Deira? Reviewed Jan 2016.

  • www.quickabudhabi.com - like Quick Dubai but for Abu Dhabi, launched November 2009.

Based in Jumeirah Lake Towers, tel +971-4-4566752, email info@supermart.ae. Reviewed Jan 2016.
  • www.tejari.com - B2B portal in Dubai, not for retail sales. Popular because of a lack of choice, not user-friendliness (which is somewhat lacking according to some comments).
  • www.tejuri.com - goods (and services?) from a variety of UAE based retailers (some well-known brands included), all under the same online umbrella so to speak. Free delivery in the UAE. International sales and delivery (not free) available. Tejuri.com supported by (not clear what Tejuri means by that) the Dubai Department of Economic Development (DED), and related to Tejari.com (?) (the well-known, but sometimes unpopular, B2B portal in Dubai). Tel 0800-TEJURI (0800-835874) toll-free in UAE, tel international +971-800-TEJURI (+971-800-835874) (not toll-free from outside UAE). Email customerservice@tejuri.com. New launch in March 2013? Might explain limited selection of products in mid-2013. Update 12 Nov 2013 - news reports said Tejuri.com would expand to include GCC countries, but unclear what that meant since Tejuri.com already offer international delivery to most countries around the world.

Online auction websites Abu Dhabi, Dubai and UAE

  • www.crokodeals.com (Croko Deals) - entertainment, shopping, and auction website, they say on their website it is the first one in the Middle East (when checked February 2012) but we're not really sure what they mean given that it seems relatively new compared to some of the other entertainment, shopping, and auction websites we've seen for the Middle East. Operated by company based in Dubai Internet City, shipping by Aramex (cost varies depending on product). Customer care tel +971-4-3624670.
  • www.souq.com - Souq.com (not Souk.com) is a popular online auction website based in the UAE, tel +971-4-4290513. • www.uaemall.com - UAE Mall, PO Box 8223, Abu Dhabi, UAE. Online auction marketplace with buying and selling options at the advertised price.
