Willington University (WU) website advertises "Scholarships available for students in United Arab Emirates" worth up to 75% of normal tuition fees. WU also says it is "the world's leading online University", which is also what several other online universities with duplicate websites say - Mayfield, Hadley, Hillford universities for example, also with 75% scholarships for UAE, Dubai, and-or Abu Dhabi based students. Presumably they are all different names for the same place, or different places making the same offers and claims about being the leading online university in the world.

WU has no physical presence in the UAE as far as we know, no local contact telephone number or address found, which means it is not accredited by the UAE Ministry of Higher Education, or the Dubai KHDA. That means it is important to check with the UAE immigration department and any potential employers in the UAE, especially government or federal organisations, if an online degree from WU is an acceptable qualification for employment and work permits. Usually it's not if it comes from a non-accredited university. However if the university is accredited by an official organisation in its home country, then a degree is usually acceptable.

However, as far as we know, WU is not accredited by any officially recognised accrediting agency in the USA or any other country. Note that the International Accreditation Organization (IAO) is not recognized by USA education authorities.

Willington University program fees and course durations are the same as or similar to the other online universities mentioned previously. Degrees take 1-2 years, even for doctorates, and possibly less time based on some comments seen about WU programs.

Date established or opened, location, telephone contact details, owner's name, head's name, not supplied for any UAE location or presence. Website contact information appears to be for the USA, but unknown where it is physically based, or if it even has a physical address or campus. Presumably not since WU says they are an online university.

Willington University is not related to Wilmington University based in New Castle, Delaware, USA as far as we know.

25 Mar 2009: A press release announced that Dubai Customs was the only government organisation taking part in the Willington University Career Fair according to a press release. Location and dates of career fair unknown, but presumably held in the UAE. Also unknown if the report refers to the same Willington University as the online one. In the report, Mr Abdul Rahman Al Saleh (Abdulrahman Al Saleh), Executive Director of Corporate Affairs at Dubai Customs, was quoted as saying "Our participation in the event of this exhibition comes as part of Dubai Customs keenness to make job opportunities available to UAE national youths and attract national competencies who seek to substantiate themselves." Unknown if that means there is some sort of implied approval for WU degrees as being acceptable for jobs with Dubai Customs, or any other Dubai or UAE government organization.
