04 September 2010
- Webpreneur University (WU) is not accredited by the UAE Ministry of Higher Education as far as we can tell, and should be thought of as a training institute rather than a university.
- Webpreneur University is based at Dubai Knowledge Village (DKV) apparently, although the WU website lists postal address as PO Box 105591 in Abu Dhabi, and has no landline contact details.
- WU offers a 3 month online or 3 day on-site course about setting up an online business and how to make money online.
- Course fees are AED 1457 (US$397) for the 3-month course, or AED 7330 (US$1997) for the 3-day interactive boot camp.
- The National reported 04 September 2010 that the founder, Mr Amir Anzur, was so confident in his university that he recently quit his day job at the Abu Dhabi Educational Council to focus on Webpreneur University full time.
- But he says "I recommend students do not give up their day job," which is probably good advice, at least until would-be web entrepreneurs are actually making almost as much from their websites as they are from their day jobs.
- The report also said By the end of training, he says students will be on track to start an online business with a future, referring to the 3-day workshop.
