Comments about Vocational Education Development CentreAdd a comment or review about Vocational Education Development Centre 29 December 2007The Vocational Education Development Centre was set up to provide alternative education to Emirati males who have dropped out of mainstream education due to social problems. Students are in a boarding environment during the week, and get 2000 dhs per month. Students follow a 2-4 year vocational program, and have the opportunity to participate in sports and other extra curricular activities. At the end of their studies they are given a job through arrangements the center has made with various local industries. VEDC operates under the joint management of the UAE Armed Forces General Headquarters (GHQ) and the Institute of Applied Technology (IAT). General Manager is John Scott (June 2007). Male students between the ages of 14-17 (sometimes 18-19) can apply for entry. General Comments - might not apply to Vocational Education Development Centre
