  • New principal is, or will be, Rod Crouch (Dr Roderick Crouch), previously head at Moreton Bay Boys College in Brisbane, Australia? Replaces Mr Gordon Pratt (Interim Executive Principal) and/or Mr Dean Pyrah (Acting Principal)? Start date for Dr Crouch is July or August 2011 (MBBC information says At the end of 2010, Dr Crouch accepted a new position at a prestigious school in the United Arab Emirates. He will remain at MBBC until June 30 before flying out to take up his new post)?

  • VIS Sharjah officially opened today by His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, ruler of Sharjah, with John Brumby, the Prime Minister of the state of Victoria in Australia, also in attendance (WAM news report 12 May 2010).
  • Domain www.victoriainternationalschool.com is not for VIS Sharjah. Is not available when checked but appears to be for a VIS in New Delhi, India?

  • Victoria International School of Sharjah (VISS) is advertising a Head of School position in the Times Educational Supplement (TES). Package and benefits include accommodation, flights, etc, and salary of around AED 350,000 (~AED 29,000 per month) tax-free in UAE. Date of advertisement and closing date of application unknown.

  • Mr Gordon Pratt takes over from Mr Rob Blachford (Foundation Principal) as head of VISS from August 2009 as Interim Executive Principal. Mr Pratt is currently Principal of Brighton Primary School in Victoria, Australia (VISS Parent Newsletter June 2009).
  • Tuition fees were fixed for two years from 2007-2009. Fee increase of 20% permitted for 2009-2010 by the Ministry of Education but school will keep fees unchanged according to VISS Parent Newsletter May 2009 - "However given delays in construction and current economic situation, the Interim Board of VISS have authorised significant discounts so that fees will remain fixed at their current level for the new school year."

  • Full name is Victoria International School of Sharjah (VIS/VISS), also referred to as the Victorian International School which probably makes it sound like an antique (which it's not).
  • VIS established as a partnership between Government of Sharjah and the state of Victoria in Australia. An old press release said number of students was expected to be 3000.
  • Facilities include Sports Complex with indoor pool, multi-court basketball stadium, outdoor covered hard courts, amd sports field. Also a Performing Arts centre with a 500-seat auditorium, and a Technology and Innovation centre.
  • Grades K-9, possibly 10 from September 2007. Grades 10-12 and Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) studies from September 2008, Equivalent National Tertiary Entrance Rank (ENTER) awarded on completion of certificate.
  • Not the same as Victoria English School in Sharjah. There are also other Victoria International Schools scattered around the world - Canada, India, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Japan, Hong Kong ... all unrelated to VISS.

  • Many popular schools are full for 2017-2018. New schools in Sharjah might have places.
  • Allow extra for books, extra-curricular activities, uniforms, trips, etc if not included in school fees.
