  • A University of Maryland, USA, delegation visited Dubai International Academic City (DIAC) which might be an indication that UOM is interested in setting up a branch campus in Dubai.
  • The press release about the visit said The visiting delegation's tour of the UAE came as part of an endeavour to explore and evaluate current and potential interest and opportunities for higher education institutions in the country and the region.
  • Members of the delegation included:
    • G. Anandalingam, Dean of the Robert H. Smith School of Business, University of Maryland.
    • Hugh Courtney, Associate Dean of Executive Programs and Professor of the Practice of Strategy at the Robert H. Smith School of Business, University of Maryland
    • Amir Farmanesh, Governance Economist with the World Bank Governance Group - Policy Fellow with the US National Academy of Sciences
    • Tom Kennedy, Director of the Office of Executive Programs at the School of Public Policy, University of Maryland
    • William L. Powers, Executive Dean of the School of Public Policy, University of Maryland.
