Emarat Al Youm, an Arabic newspaper, reported that the KHDA cancelled the commercial and academic licenses of MGU, along with two other institutes in Dubai - Mahatma Gandhi University, and the International Institute for Management and Technology. Emirates Business 24-7 reported that Mohammed Darwish of the KHDA said the authority had to cancel the licenses of these universities as their programmes did not match the quality of education followed by their mother university.
An anonymous official of the institute was quoted as saying (referring to the MBBS program) "The programme is accredited, recognised and approved by the Charter of the government of St. Christopher & Nevis also listed in the World Health Organisation (WHO) World directory of medical school."

UEIMS moved from DIAC to the Ras Al Khaimah Academy Zone, part of the RAK Free Trade Zone in 2009? According to a report in The National 12 January 2010, Dr Warren Fox, the chairman of the Dubai based UQAIB said "Early on it became apparent … that the programme wasn't fitting the validation model, the institution made the decision it would relocate." Perhaps referring to the UQAIB assessment criteria.
