Tuition fees exclude costs and charges for meals, stationery, textbooks, transport, uniforms, meals, etc. Brothers and sisters from the same family get a sibling discounts of 5% only if 4 or more children from the same family attend. There are schools with much better discounts in Dubai for two or more children from the same family.

  • A number of teachers at Raffles International School in Dubai are being laid off, varying from a small to a large number depending on who you listen to.
    • Khaleej Times 04 June 2010 (and other press) reported that Avishesha Bhojani, CEO of Emaar Education said "Across all Raffles campuses in Dubai, less than 10 per cent of the staff have not been offered new contracts. ... There were redundancies in some positions which are being condensed. Some teachers have also been released on grounds of performance."
    • Gulf News 04 June 2010 said "Around 40 teachers ..." were fired, and reported one teacher as saying "We were told that there won't be any lay-offs following the change in management" (in March 2010 there was an announcement that Innoventures would be taking over management of Emaar Education schools).
    • 7 Days 03 June 2010 reported that "Dozens of staff at a school in the emirate have been made redundant in a cull that follows a management shake-up" meaning about 2½ dozen since the same report then said "As many as 30 teachers ... "

  • Raffles International School West Campus and South Campus have been accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS) as regular members.
  • Raffles West Campus offers International Baccaluareate Primary Years Program (IB PYP), IGCSE, and IB Diploma Program (IB DP), and is an IB candidate school.
  • Raffles South Campus offers Cambridge International Primary Years Program (CIPP), IGCSE, and Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) A-Levels.
09 May 2009 review
  • Raffles Nursery Dubai opening at the Umm Suqeim South Campus from September 2009. Girls only at RIS South Campus from Grade 5.
  • Fees appear to be unchanged for 2009-2010 according to RIS website (fees statement dated 16 March 2009).
07 October 2008 review
  • The Head of School, Anna Kizirian, was reported in the Gulf News as having been removed by Emaar Education, the school owners. Which probably says more about the owners than it does about Ms Kizirian, given that she has a well established reputation in Dubai as a school administrator.
  • Parents were also complaining about the substandard facilites. See Raffles School forum topic for more details.
  • Fees information almost unchanged for 2008-2009 (looks like KG1 is 25,000 instead of 22,800 dhs). KHDA information says school not eligible for a fees increase as it is a new school.
  • Raffles School might accept some special needs children depending on the condition. Admission application form for 2008-2009 asks for the following information: "Details of and report on any 'Special Education Needs'".
18 April 2007 review
  • Three Raffles International Schools will be opened in September 2007 in Umm Suquiem (Umm Suqeim) - North, South, and West campuses. Schools are managed by Raffles Campus Pte Ltd which is owned by Emaar Education LLC which is a subsidiary of Emaar PJSC (originally called Emaar Properties PJSC), a large company listed on the Dubai stock exchange (Dubai Financial Market).
  • US qualification is the American High School Diploma. Raffles International Schools are seeking accreditation with the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC), and have applied to offer IB. Unconfirmed if they intend to offer IBPYP, IBMYP in addition to the IB Diploma and IB Certificate. A-Levels and IGCSE will also be also offered.
  • Fees are AED 22,800-58,800 for 2007-2008, excludes almost everything except tuition fees (add an extra 5,000 for registration expenses, another 5,000-15,000 dhs per year for uniforms, books, trips, transport, sports etc). Payable with three PDCs (Post-Dated Checks).
  • Pre-school is Raffles Montessori Pre-School, followed by a Junior School, Middle School, and eventually a High School.
  • Registration for September 2007 is Pre-school through to Grade 8, higher grades to be offered in future years. Also plans to open two more schools in Al Barsha (date unknown).

General comments - might not apply to Raffles International School
  • Many popular schools are full for 2014-2015. New schools in Dubai might have places.
  • Allow extra for books, extra-curricular activities, uniforms, trips, etc if not included in school fees.
