- Merryland Kindergarten is reportedly closing down according to a Gulf News report 30 January 2010: "Sherwood Academy and Merryland Kindergarten, following the Indian curricula, are due to close by 2013, affecting close to 3,000 students."
- There is apparently a new Maryland International School opening in Mussaffa / Mussafah by September 2010.

- UAE newspapers reported in April 2008 that Aathish Sreedharan, a four-year old student in KG1 at Merryland, died after being locked for 3 hours in a school bus. The school was later fined 5000 dhs by ADEZ (a Ministry of Education rule says that school supervisors are responsible for checking that all students have exited the school buses).
- Founder of Merryland KG in Abu Dhabi is Mrs Susheela George, also the founder of Sherwood Academy (CBSE branch), also known as Al Tawaan Private School (IGCSE branch).
