- Registration fee AED 500 (non-refundable, was previously AED 600). Admission fee of AED 2000 mentioned in previous years but might not apply for 2009-2010?
- Fees payable in 3 instalments. Payment for terms 1 and 2 about 40%-50% higher than payment for term 3.
16 May 2010
- The JPS Starbucks coffee shop is not open, nor is it going to open after parents complained about the idea according to a report in 7 Days newspaper which reported a spokesperson from Starbucks as saying
"Feed-back indicates that the outlet is unlikely to materialise and we are happy to support the community and its wishes."
- Unknown if the decision affected the share price of Starbucks in the USA.
12 May 2010 - Starbucks in JPS
- GEMS Jumeirah Primary School (JPS) has a Starbucks coffee shop and cafe in the reception area, according to a 12 May 2010 report in The National newspaper.
- Opening date unknown, but it is a trial run according to a newsletter sent to parents of children at JPS.
- Mixed reports of what parents think - some are happy for somewhere to have a coffee while waiting for the children. Some are unhappy
"voicing concerns about the security, health and ethical implications" according to the report. Those concerns were addressed in the letter to parents dated 29 April 2010.
- The school said security systems had been revised, the coffee shop would not sell muffins or doughnuts, and children could only visit the shop when accompanied by an adult. Unknown if the school requires that the adult be the child's parent or guardian.
- Nothing seen reported about what students think.
