11 April 2010
- Jumeira Baccalaureate School (JBS?) is a new Taaleem school expected to open September 2010, offering an international curriculum.
- Kindergarten and primary school years (grades 1-4) opening date 12 September 2010, middle school and high school opening planned for September 2011.
- Curriculum for middle school will be the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program leading to IGCSE, and IB Diploma program for Grades 11-12.
- Taalem press release 11 April 2010 about the new school says there will be more focus on learning Arabic with a specially designed curriculum to improve Arabic language education - "The school will create a culture rich environment where bilingualism is a natural outcome of the educational experience."
- JBS school location will be the old Dubai American School premises in Jumeirah 1 (they are moving to a new campus in Al Barsha for September 2010).
- JBS might be called Jumeira Baccalaureate School, Jumeirah International Baccalaureate School, Jumeirah IB School or College, or similar.
- Campus area about
332,000 square feet (about 31,000 sq meters) including grounds.
- No further information about fees, teacher salaries, head of school, etc supplied, or found on Taaleem website. Contact Taaleem Dubai for more details.
- Or contact the registrations office and information center behind The Children's Garden Daycare in Jumeirah 2 - telephone +971-4-3446931, fax +971-4-3446754, email info@jbschool.ae or admissions@jbschool.ae. Opening hours 0830-1730 (8:30 am to 5:30 pm) from 04 April 2010.
- Website might be www.jbschool.ae eventually but nothing found when checked.
- Other Taleem school fees are about AED 25,000-40,000 at primary school level. So a 40k or more estimate (and probably up to about 70k-80k for the high school when it opens) seems likely, given the location and Taaleem's description of the new school as one that "is nestled into the heart of Dubai's premier residential catchment area and will truly integrate local and regional perspectives with global and international connectivity."
