  1. Entry at third year level only - 2 year duration and fees refers to 3rd and 4th year of course.
  2. Estimate based on tuition fees of AED 9,000 per course, and requirement of 9 courses to complete degree.
  • All courses add a processing fee of AED 200, except for the MBA.
  • Scholarships of AED 5500 per year available for most undergraduate BA and MA business degrees.
  • Student accommodation AED 27,000-30,000 twin share or AED 55,000-60,000 single per academic year). Security deposit AED 2,000.
  • Transport fees AED 4,500-6,000 per year in Dubai, AED 7,000 for Ajman, AED 8,000 for Abu Dhabi. Compulsory for students staying at university accommodation (AED 6,000).
  • Visa fees AED 3,000-5,500, visa renewal AED 3,000 per year, visa cancellation AED 750-7,000 (don't lose student id card, passport, or wait more than 6 months after exit from the UAE). Deposit AED 3,000.

  • Heriot Watt Dubai is expanding, according to a Gulf News report. New location will still be in Dubai International Academic City (DIAC).
  • New programs planned for Dubai might include Built Environment, Petroleum Engineering, Fashion, Water Research.
  • Fees information updated, appears to be unchanged from 2008-2009.

  • A report in The National about PhDs being offered at UAE University, also said that HW Dubai was planning to offer PhD programs starting in July or August 2009.

  • Tuition fees updated (previously AED 38,000-78,000 per year). Tuition fees according to HW website are:
    • One year degree entry program costs AED 25,000
    • Bachelor's level programs are AED 39,500 or AED 44,500 per year for 3-5 years.
    • MA (Hons) programs are AED 39,500 per year for 4 years.
    • MSc programs are AED 58,000, AED 60,000, or AED 98,000 (for the petroleum engineeering course) total for each course. Duration is 1 year full-time or 2 years part-time (total course fee is the same).
    • MBA courses are AED 8300 each for on-campus study, total 9 courses (AED 74,700). Add exam fee of AED 500-700 (£100) per course.

  • Professor Brian Smart takes over position of Head of Heriot-Watt University Dubai Campus.

  • Professor Keith Cornwell retires as Head of Heriot Watt Dubai. Mrs Ruth Moir becomes Head of Heriot-Watt Dubai University Campus (HWUDC).
  • Professor Brian Smart takes on the role of Executive Dean of Heriott Watt Dubai.

  • Heriot Watt has a good reputation in the UK having received a number of awards and high rankings eg in the Financial Times and The Times Higher Education league tables and university ratings lists in the UK.
  • Courses include management, technology and engineering at present. In October 2006 more courses offered in areas of Applied Mathematics, Construction Management, Food Science, Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering.
  • Student accommodation available in Sharjah.
  • Qualifications and courses include Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Arts, Business Administration, Engineering, and Science.
