- The Westminster School Sharjah has not yet opened. A statement on TWS Sharjah website says "We are extremely disappointed that we were unable to open our school as scheduled and apologise for any inconvenience caused. We are still waiting for the necessary approvals from the authorities which could take a couple more weeks but we hope to have the matter resolved before then. Please contact the school for more information."

- GEMS Westminster School in Sharjah is a new international school planned by the GEMS Education group, modeled on the GEMS Westminster School in Dubai.
- GWS-Sharjah will initially open as a primary school with expansion to secondary school in later years.
- Opening date is expected to be August or September 2012 (?) according to teaching vacancy and job advertisements for positions at the new school (not confirmed).
