- Administration fee additional AED 2000 (non-refundable)
03 June 2010 - teacher salary package at Emirates International School (EIS)
- The Consultancy Education Group (CEG) in London were advertising in May 2010 for a Head of Department at "Dubai International School, UAE" that looks like it might have been EIS. Or maybe it really was for the Dubai International School (DIS). Salary not specified but other benefits (amounts seem to indicate it's more likely that the job was at EIS than at DIS) advertised were
- Monthly benefits: overseas allowance AED 750, transport allowance AED 250 (Sep to Jun only), utilities paid by school up to AED 500
- 1 Bedroom apartment with basic furniture worth about AED 90,000 per year (not to bad for Dubai but might just be a made-up number)
- Basic medical insurance / health card from DNIRC
- End of Service Gratuity according to UAE Labour Law
- Moving allowance up to AED 1500 for professional materials, settling in allowance AED 1000, annual economy class air tickets and at start and end of contract for employee only (not for family).
27 September 2008
- Fees updated (was 25,200-53,400 for 2007-2008)
18 October 2007
- Emirates International School (EIS) has good mix of international students with courses leading to the highly regarded IB qualification.
- A girls only section opened in 2005.
- EIS is one of the Al Habtoor Group companies (a well-known family in Dubai with significant business interests in the Gulf region).
- Also called Emirates International Private School, or Emirates International School Umm Suqeim.
- Location often given as Jumeira / Jumeirah even though school is in Umm Suqiem (the school's marketing department presumably think Jumeirah sounds better).
- Fees information for 2007-2008 (AED 21,000-44,500 for 2006-2007).
- Another EIS school opened in Emirates Hills - The Meadows in September 2005. See Emirates International School Meadows for more information.
- Previous domain name www.eischool.com has been given up and is not related to Emirates International School anymore (spammers have it now), www.eisschool.com is not EIS website either. New website at www.eischools.ae.
- There are the usual difficulties with trying to provide a good education in a profit making institution - parents complain fees are too high, teachers complain they work too hard and salaries are too low, management thinks teachers don't work hard enough and don't understand why parents are unhappy with the quality education their offspring are receiving for a bargain price .... and so on.
