  • Sometimes called the Emirates National School Jumeirah or Emirates National School Dubai?
  • School Director or Director of Schools is Amna Al Habtoor (appointment announced mid 2007?).
  • Location of EIS Jumeirah branch is actually in the Umm Al Sheif community area, on Al Thanya Road just before it joins the Sheikh Zayed Road (or highway). But this area is sometimes also referred to as Jumeirah or Umm Suqeim. GPS coordinates 25°8'7.85"N, 55°12'38.04"E (25.135514, 55.210568). The Google Maps address in Umm Suqeim looks like somebody's villa, not the EIS campus further down Al Thanya Road.
Teaching jobs, careers, and job vacancies at Emirates International School Dubai (EIS)
  • The Consultancy Education Group (CEG) in London were advertising in May 2010 for a Head of Department at "Dubai International School, UAE" that looks like it might have been EIS. Or maybe it really was for the Dubai International School (DIS). Salary not specified but other benefits (amounts seem to indicate it's more likely that the job was at EIS than at DIS) advertised were
    • Monthly benefits: overseas allowance AED 750, transport allowance AED 250 (Sep to Jun only), utilities paid by school up to AED 500.
    • 1 Bedroom apartment with basic furniture worth about AED 90,000 per year (not too bad for Dubai but might just be a made-up number).
    • Basic medical insurance or health card from DNIRC, End of Service Gratuity according to UAE Labour Law.
    • Moving allowance up to AED 1500 for professional materials, settling in allowance AED 1000, annual economy class air tickets and at start and end of contract for employee only (not for family).
14 September 2013
  • New High School Principal is David Hicks (previously he was HS Principal at the EIS Meadows Campus). Previous HS Principal was Phillip Burgess (Philip Burgess) (from 2010 or 2011 to 2013, moved to Yew Chung International School of Chongqing, China, in August 2013 as Principal).
  • Previous Secondary Principal and Executive Principal was Jason Kirwin left in 2011? Became Founding Principal of the International School of Vietnam in 2012.
  • Primary School Principal is Linley Marwick (start date unknown). Previous JS Principal was Marianne Deacon?
12 May 2010
  • Executive Principal of EIS Schools is Jason Kirwin. A new title, not a new person. Mr Kirwin became Principal of both EIS Jumeirah campus and EIS Meadows campus on 01 June 2009. The position was renamed from Principal to Executive Principal on 27 April 2010.
27 September 2008 review
  • High School Principal is Jason Kirwin (started April 2007).
18 October 2007 review
  • Emirates International School (EIS) has good mix of international students with courses leading to the highly regarded IB qualification.
  • A girls only section opened in 2005.
  • EIS is one of the Al Habtoor Group companies (a well-known family in Dubai with significant business interests in the Gulf region).
  • Also called Emirates International Private School, or Emirates International School Umm Suqeim.
  • Location often given as Jumeirah (Jumeirah) even though school is in Umm Al Sheif (perhaps the school's marketing department think Jumeirah sounds better).
  • Another EIS school opened in Emirates Hills - The Meadows in September 2005.
  • Previous domain name www.eischool.com has been given up and is not related to Emirates International School anymore (spammers have it now), www.eisschool.com is not an EIS website either. New website URL is at www.eischools.ae.
  • There are the usual difficulties with trying to provide a good education in a profit making institution - parents complain fees are too high, teachers complain they work too hard and salaries are too low, management thinks teachers don't work hard enough and don't understand why parents are unhappy with the quality education their offspring are receiving for a bargain price .... and so on.
