  • In a Khaleej Times (KT) report about the freeze on school fees imposed by the KHDA for 2010-2011, there was a comment that the Central School in Dubai wanted to increase fees by 20% - Syed Mirza Galib, principal of the Central School said the school's landlord had upped the rent by 400 per cent and old schools were feeling the pinch. "We are requesting the authorities to re-consider the freeze, because we need to work on the quality standards laid down by KHDA and improve our facilities," he said. The school charges between Dh2,000 to Dh6,000 annually is seeking a 20 per cent increase.
  • Unclear where the KT got the figures from for fees - Central School website still says AED 250-440 per month for 10 months per year.

  • Fees information updated, assumed to be for academic year 2009-2010 but might be for 2008-2009 if school website hasn't been updated. Annual fees for 2007-2008 were 2,250-4,000 dhs.

  • Tuition fees quoted on website are 170-300 dhs, presumably per month for 10 months or AED 1,700-3,000 per year.

  • Many popular schools are full for 2013-2014. New schools in Dubai might have places.
  • Allow extra for books, extra-curricular activities, uniforms, trips, etc if not included in school fees.
  • Estimate monthly teaching salary by dividing annual school fees by 3, or 2 for primary schools. Deduct 25% for profit-making schools.
