10 September 2013 review
  • A new nursery at Dubai Municipality head office (DM headquarters) was announced, operated in collaboration with British Orchard Nurseries Group.
  • Unclear who can attend - kids belonging to any DM employee or only children of female UAE citizens - Emirati working women according to the press release, which said "She thanked Dubai Municipality for acknowledging the necessity and giving the opportunity to contribute to the Emirati working women community", referring to the founder of BON nurseries, Ms Vandana Gandhi. The National published the press release on 10 Sep 2013 with the headline "Nursery opens for Emirati mothers working for Dubai Municipality" and the comment "The nursery is available only to Emirati mothers in the municipality's main building". Dubai Municipality information referred to "Working Dubai mom" and "working mothers at DM" without mentioning nationality, and "Emirati mothers" but that was when they repeated the story from The National.
  • But whether mother must be Emirati or can be foreign, it appears male employees are excluded from bringing children to the nursery - all information seen referred to mothers only.
  • Head of nursery is Zobaida Sharif? Or Zubaida Mohammed Sharif? Information not clear.
  • Nursery curriculum is British based, and includes Arabic language, Islamic studies, UAE culture and concepts.
  • Nursery facilities and activities include (supplied information) creative spaces (role play), soft play, swimming pools, construction area, library, water play area, sand area, messy play or painting area, grass area for outdoor play, GymJuniorz children's gym and fitness centre, Arabic lessons, ballet, gym lessons, computer classes.
