10 September 2008 update (press release or WAM)
  • Al Yasmina School is the second Aldar Academies school to open in the UAE. The first was the Pearl Primary School in downtown Abu Dhabi.
  • Project construction cost AED 150 million. So 2,000 students paying AED 75,000 each should cover it. Plus a bit more for staff salaries and paperclip consumption.
  • Teacher to pupil ratios given in news release as "1:24 for the kindergarten and primary level, and 1:20 for the secondary."
24 August 2008 review

Al Yasmina is a British Curriculum school which will open in September 2008 for students from KG1 and KG2 to Year 8 or 9 (conflicting information given by AYS), and eventually cater to students from 3 to 18 years (KG - Year 13) by adding a grade or year group each year. Capacity is 2,000 students. School is one of the Aldar Academies schools, the second out of 20 they plan to build in Abu Dhabi by 2013.

  • Calendar term dates: First day of new term is Sunday 07 September 2008. Last day of 2008-2009 academic year is Thursday 03 July 2009.
  • School day timings expected to be from 0800-1430 (not confirmed).
  • Limited resources available to cater to special needs student, they should be able to integrate easily into most classes to be considered.
  • Impressive looking list of facilities, as you'd expect for a new school built by the largest property developer in Abu Dhabi.
  • Additional email is registrar@alyasmina.sch.ae.
